The College Improv Tournament South Regional is Saturday January 21, 2012 and features 12 teams from 4 southern states.
Among the teams playing are the current regional defending champs Improv Athens from University of Georgia and previous regional champs Theatre Strike Force from University of Florida. The College Improv Tournament’s mission is to honor the past, to celebrate the present, and to showcase the future of improvisational theatre from a local, regional, national, and international perspective in all of its multi-disicplinary expressions.
College Improv Tournament is produced by Chicago Improv Festival Productions. The South Regional is co-presented by Black Box Productions & DramaTech Theater. 2011-2012 College Improv Tournament schedule looks like Monday Night Football meets Whose Line Is It Anyway. New for this year's tournament: There will be one regional per weekend, going from mid-October until mid-March. Every regional will be webcast live, and for free, on CIT's website.
Several local experienced improvisers will serve as judges for each preliminary and finals match. The South Regional judges include improvisers from the Basement Theatre, Dad’s Garage, Laughing Matters, Relapse Theatre and the Village Theatre. The regional winning team will be given an automatic bid to compete in the CIT Nationals. CIT includes 100+ teams this year, including teams from Canada, so let the games begin!!
